Manuel Baraza joins the Hermes Foundation in celebrating its 10th anniversary

At an event presided over by His Majesty King Felipe VI, he joins the Foundation’s mission to promote and protect citizens’ digital rights.

Manuel Baraza, CEO of Ayesa Digital, joined the Hermes Foundation yesterday during an event presided over by His Majesty King Felipe VI, held as part of the Foundation’s 10th anniversary celebrations. By becoming a member, he joins the Foundation’s mission to promote and safeguard citizens’ digital rights, understood as an extension of fundamental rights and freedoms in today’s technological environment, while fostering ethical, inclusive, secure, and sustainable digital development for society as a whole.

Over the past decade, one of the Foundation’s most significant initiatives has been the coordination of the Digital Rights Observatory, an open and inclusive forum that encourages the exchange of ideas, the collection of proposals, and the development of public policies aimed at ensuring that technological progress strengthens rather than undermines citizens’ rights. The Observatory seeks to turn innovation into an opportunity to enhance security, equity, and freedom in the digital world.

Throughout these ten years, the Foundation has established itself as a recognized leader in the field of digital rights, driving national discussions on privacy, digital sovereignty, and the protection of minors in digital environments. It has published benchmark reports on regulatory trends and on the ethical challenges posed by artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, while also contributing to the integration of digital rights into organizations’ ESG frameworks.

At the international level, the Foundation has participated in European networks specializing in technology ethics and regulation, and has collaborated with think tanks and multilateral organizations on issues related to artificial intelligence, neurotechnologies, and human rights. It has also championed an innovative approach to digital sovereignty that combines political, ethical, and economic dimensions, contributing to the global debate on secure, transparent, and democratic digital environments.

Among the distinguished attendees at the event was Óscar López, Spain’s Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Service. Manuel Baraza thus joins Ayesa Digital Chairman Iñigo Ucín, who was already among the Foundation’s prominent members.
